Short Vowels

In Sudanese Arabic, there are 3 short vowels. The word for vowels is "Harakaat / حَرَكات" which literally means "movements". The 3 short vowels, known as diacritic signs, are symbols written either above or below a particular consonant. The examples below contain the vowel written with a dash so you can better visualize where the vowel lies with respect to the text line.
